THE BOTANIC GARDEN

The Botanic Garden in Ubud on the Island of Bali celebrated its Soft Opening on June 15, 2006.

A Botanic Garden is a constant work in progress and our collections will continue to expand. A lush and tranquil sanctuary just 1.2 kilometres from the heart of Ubud, the Garden is a unique tourism destination as well as a retreat for Ubud’s residents. Pathways and steps join five hectares of natural ravine which include an Orchid Garden, a vast collection of ferns, palms, bamboos and tropical trees, Bali’s first Maze, an Islamic Garden and other features.

The Amphitheatre of the Garden can be rented as a venue for weddings and other events.

Founded by German writer Stefan Reisner, the Botanic Garden Ubud was established to safeguard Bali’s precious flora and enhance environmental consciousness. Scientific advice and educational programs are in the process of being developed for the Indonesian public.

“Travelers can come to a standstill after thousands of miles of noisy travel,” explains Stefan. “Our Botanic Garden is like a palace with the sky as roof and many different rooms, secret chambers, galleries and staircases. The visitor wanders through changing vistas and experiences, encouraged to trespass into Nature. sumber:www.botanicgardenbali.com
